Lake Poway, a reservoir completed in 1972, is the starting point for a steep trail up Mount Woodson to Potato Chip Rock, a thin granite ledge that has become one of the most photographed spots in San Diego County. Iron Mountain, on the east side of Poway, is another popular climb. Miles of trails within the city are open to horseback riders.
